Senior Vice President of Sound Services
Oscar-winning sound re-recording mixer, Chris Jenkins was appointed Senior Vice President of Sound Services, Universal Operations Group in March 2001. Jenkins is responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of Universal Sound, including strategic direction, new markets, talent relations, sales, customer service and personnel assignment. In addition to these duties, Jenkins continues mixing on independent and Universal Pictures projects with his long-time partner, Frank Montano. Jenkins reports to Jim Watters, President and General Manager, Universal Operations Group.
At Universal, Jenkins has overseen the renovation and expansion of the Sound Editorial Department and the creation of BluWave Audio, a 20,000 square foot facility dedicated to sound restoration and digital audio mastering. During the same time, he served as sound re-recording mixer on films such as In the Bedroom, A Beautiful Mind and The Italian Job.
An industry veteran, Jenkins joined Universal from Todd-AO. Jenkins started at Todd-AO in 1976 and was given his own mixing stage in 1979. Beginning in 1989 he served as President of Todd-AO and as a Board Member for the Todd AO Corporation, while maintaining his mixing career. During his tenure there, Jenkins worked on approximately 150 films, receiving Academy Awards for his re-recording work on The Last of the Mohicans and Universal Pictures’ Out of Africa. He also earned Oscar nominations for Fabulous Baker Boys and Dick Tracy. Additionally, Jenkins has received British Academy Awards for Fabulous Baker Boys and Out of Africa.
