Doc Goldstein
Vice President of Post Production Engineering, Sound Services
David “Doc” Goldstein was promoted to Vice President of Post Production Engineering, Sound Services, Universal Operations Group, in October 2001. He is responsible for setting the engineering standards in the post production sound and projection divisions, which include mixing studios, sound editorial, projection and digital audio mastering.
Goldstein reports to Chris Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Sound Services, Universal Operations Group.
Goldstein has overseen the construction of Universal’s BluWave Audio, a 20,000 square foot facility dedicated to sound restoration and digital audio mastering. He has also directed the implementation of a high-speed digital network linking the entire sound department.
Goldstein has been an engineer with Universal since 1985. Most recently, he served as Director of Engineering, Sound Services.
Previously, Goldstein worked as an engineer at Warner Hollywood Studios, having transitioned with the company while it was known as Samuel Goldwyn Studios. During his time at Warner Hollywood, Goldstein assisted with the integration of then-emerging technologies of Dolby Stereo and digital recording.
Prior to that, Goldstein worked at the Wally Heider Recording Studios, which was then the world’s largest independent recording studio. While there he supplied technical support for albums by Pink Floyd and Little Feat among others.
Goldstein attended Golden West College and the Cleveland Institute of Electronics.
