Jeff Berry

Jeff Berry

Executive Director, Virtual Effects and Production Services

In 2010, Jeff Berry was promoted to Executive Director of Virtual Effects and Production Services. Recently, he developed Universal Studios’ first Virtual Stage, UVS -1, which is a pre-rigged, pre-calibrated, green screen stage. Key benefits to the stage include motion capture, on-set real time visualization, and camera tracking. Artists using this stage are allowed creative control, reduced production time, and high digital film quality deliverables. UVS -1 also includes editing suites, an artist bullpen, and conference room in a secure setting, allowing the artists to work in a completely cohesive environment.

Jeff also oversees the production on 30 sound stages and over 30 backlot locations on the Universal lot. Other areas of responsibility include Grip, Set Lighting, Property, Costume, Transportation, Graphic Design and Sign Shop, Office Services, and Stock Units. Jeff Berry reports to Dave Beanes, Senior Vice President of Production Services.

After graduating from UCLA, Jeff began his career as Production Services Representative at Universal and worked on over 20 major motion pictures including Fast and Furious, Batman, and Scorpion King. Jeff also worked on multiple television shows, commercials and music videos.

In Jeff’s spare time, he co-produced the feature Unbeatable Harold starring Henry Winkler, Taryn Manning, Dylan McDermott, Charles Durning, and Gladys Night; produced indie feature Ghost Game and executive produced indie feature The Cult starring Taryn Manning and Rachel Miner. Jeff also was Assistant Director on Ghost Game and an independent pilot, Bounce.
