Production Services Representative - Manager Commercial Production Services

Universal Studios’ Production Services Representatives have a vital role in the success of each production that films on the Studio lot including Features, Television, Commercials, Music Videos, Independent Films and Still Photography. While working on the lot productions have a Production Services Representative to assist in making sure their projects run smoothly and efficiently every step of the way.

Jennifer Kelsey, Manager of Commercials, is Universal’s Commercial Queen! She was hired in January 1991 as a Production Representative and promoted to Manager of Commercials in January 1994. Kelsey is responsible for all commercials filmed on the studio premises. She works directly with the Production Company client to coordinate any needs they may have including backlot and stage rentals and production services.

Kelsey is known to producers for her personalized attention and consistent follow up. Last year, on top of generating new business, 100% of her existing clients were repeat customers. Her professional reputation and hard work have given her a very loyal customer following. A great example is Joe Pytka, a renowned commercial director, stated, “Jennifer Kelsey parts the Red Sea for me when I work at Universal.”

Kelsey is a strong supporter of the Association of Commercial Producers (AICP), an organization advocating commercial production companies. She travels to New York every year to attend their annual gala awards presentation. With Kelsey’s dedication these companies have produced the majority of the commercials shot on the lot including GE, Verizon Wireless, Gap, Radio Shack, Ford, Target, Coca-Cola, Mastercard and many more. She manages from 100 to 300 commercials on an annual basis.

She began her career in San Francisco at One Pass Film and Video Inc. and then took the position of broadcast production assistant for Foote, Cone, & Belding Advertising. Once coming to Los Angeles, Kelsey became a production assistant for Propaganda Films and later a production coordinator for The Competition Inc.

Kelsey received her BA in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley and also a Producer’s Fellowship Certificate from the American Film Institute.
