Steve Williams

Vice President, Administration, Sound Services

Steve Williams attended the University of California at Berkeley. Wanting to pursue a career in broadcasting Steve received his FCC license and was soon working for KCBS Radio in San Francisco. Steve worked at KCBS as a radio engineer for three years where he produced and edited at all the news formats. While recording an album at Fantasy Records he received a phone call from a friend that the recording studio was urgently looking for an assistant engineer. The assistant engineer job was the beginning of Steve’s 15 year career in the music industry.  After moving to Los Angeles Steve’s career as a First Engineer took off.
He worked with such artists as the Temptations, Gladys Knight, Sarah Vaughn, and Oscar Peterson.  Following his extensive music engineering career Steve made his transition into film post production sound.  The timing was perfect because the film industry was beginning to incorporate the digital technology the music industry was already familiar with into its post production workflow.  Steve has been a Supervising Sound Editor in the Los Angeles area for the past 16 years.
Some of the projects Steve has supervised include Menace II Society, The Mask, From HellL, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Thirteen Days.

Steve has worked as a Sound Supervisor on staff at Universal Studios. Recent projects have included the TV series Law & Order: Criminal Intent for Dick Wolf Films, the feature film Guess Who for Sony Pictures and most recently You, Me & Dupree for Universal Studios and The Book of Eli for Warner Bros. Steve is an Emmy Award winner for sound effects editing. He is a member of the board of directors of the Motion Picture Sound Editors and a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
